How I unwind before a big week: Tips to Relaxing

Lately i have been finding it hard to relax at the end of the day. Once it hits about 5pm i usually remember all the tasks i forgot to do, so i start to run around the house frantically cleaning, washing, cooking; you know what its like. After i finish doing all the things i forgot to do i find it hard to stop and relax. I feel awake and energetic, which isn't how you want to feel at 11pm. So here are some of the things i do to unwind before i start a big week.

1. Shower

I love having a nice warm shower or bath at the end of the night. This makes me feel clean and ready for relaxing. Im not sure what it is about feeling clean before i go to bed but i just like knowing that when i climb into my bed at the end of the night i'm clean and refreshed and ready for sleep.
I like to Shampoo my hair every 3 nights, and condition or treatment after shampooing. If i have time i will also exfoliate my body and shave. Just to get that extra smooth skin feeling.

2. Light Candles

I know everyone says this, and i know everyone is probably sick of seeing this but its very true. Candles promote relaxation via aromatherapy and light. The yellow hues from the light help relax your eyes while the scent will help with your mind relaxing.

3. Have a good and yummy dinner

I think when you have your favourite meal, or you cook something you really like you end up being more satisfied with your meal then you would be if you just bought take out. But don't get me wrong if take out makes you happy then do that. But isn't it the best feeling when you finish your dinner and you have enjoyed the flavour and portion so much that you body is full and ready for sleep?

4. Have a clean environment

Sometimes when you want to relax ad unwind and you are finding it hard, it could be a lot do do with whats in the space around you. Is your house tidy? Is there washing or dishes to be done? Does the house need to be aired out? (Yes i like to this i leave the windows open to push the air flow through my house so that it feels clean in the air as well). Having a clean environment will make your mind relax and focus on sleep and positive thoughts.

5. Lavender Oil

I could go on for days about how good lavender oil is for relaxation and sleep. (i won't because that would be a very long blog post ahah.) But all i need to say is once you have started to use lavender oil, whether it's through a diffuser or a mist or even just rolling it onto your skin; you will never turn back. It will become a big part of your nightly routine, trust me.
